A Honkai Star Rail VA has come under fire from Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail fans, following her portrayal of Acheron.

Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail often share the same voice actors, with some characters even having crossovers between all three HoYoverse games. One of the most popular characters is Raiden Mei, a popular Honkai Impact 3rd character who has Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail counterparts.

To further supplement the timeless nature of these characters, both the Japanese and Chinese VAs behind Raiden have remained the same. However, the recent reveal of Acheron’s English VA has caused quite a stir within the game’s community, with many taking to socials to call out and even harass the actor.

Raiden Shogun VA defends Acheron casting amid HSR backlash

Allegra Clark, the English VA behind Honkai Star Rail’s upcoming 5-star has seemingly been attacked by the game’s community. Many fans have been upset to find that Allegra voices Acheron rather than Anne Yatco, the voice behind Raiden Shogun

As some fans have noted, the backlash stems from the fact that the Chinese and Japanese VAs for Raiden have remained the same through all HoYo games, including Acheron in Honkai Star Rail. It’s because of this, that many fans had hoped Anne Yatco, Raiden Shogun’s English VA would reprise her role.

Well, following the backlash to Allegra’s casting, Raiden Shogun’s VA has responded to those who have been harassing her online.

“Here’s a hard truth. None of you know what went on in the casting of the character, and neither do Allegra or I. If it upsets you in any way, find a way to get over it,” said Anne. “Allegra is an amazing actress and I can’t wait to hear her in the game. And frankly, the more the merrier.”

Despite facing the backlash from Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail fans, Allegra remains positive and hopes fans will be able to still enjoy her performance as Acheron.

“I know there’s a little bit of controversy about my casting as Acheron and some people are upset, but I hope everyone loves her and my approach to her character. I’m so fond of Acheron, and I can’t wait for you to meet her and eventually play as her.”

As for how the casting choice was made, Allegra gave the following statement: “Neither of us know why they went with me over [Anne], and I’m sorry if that’s not a satisfying answer, but there’s no studio conspiracy or hard feelings. We’re excited to share the Mei-verse.”
