2XKO’s Alpha Lab playtest finally has a release date locked in, with the slim roster of five confirmed champions being given to players so they can give it a test drive at home.

Riot Games, the developers of wildly popular multiplayer games like League of Legends & Valorant, are making their first forray into fighting games, with 2XKO being themed mainly around League of Legends.

Looking to get in on the action? We’ve got you covered. Here’s everything you need to know from the 2XKO Alpha Lab playtest’s release date and roster, how to sign up and more.

2XKO Alpha Lab playtest release date

The 2XKO Alpha Lab playtest will be released on August 8, 2024. Get in while you can, as the playtest will only run until August 19 before it gets taken offline.

This playtest will be available for players on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. Those who sign up will get access to the PC version, as well as a console version of their choice. However, once a player picks between PS5 and Xbox, they’re stuck with it and can’t change.

It’s worth noting that the 2XKO Alpha Lab play test is only available in the US, Canada, UK, France, Brazil, Japan, and Mexico. If you aren’t currently located in one of those countries, you’ll have to sit this one out.

How to sign up for 2XKO Alpha Lab playtest

In order to get into 2XKO’s Alpha Lab play test, you’ll need to register on Riot’s official sign-up page. Here, you’ll be asked to register with a valid email and Riot account.

From there you’ll be emailed a survey. You must complete that survey to be eligible for an invite to the playtest, but access isn’t guaranteed.

Additionally, everyone who gets invited to the Alpha Lab playtest will get one referral to give a friend early access to the game. Each player only gets one referral.

Riot have also confirmed that there will be more playtests in the future, with future playtests aiming at adding more regions.

2XKO playtest’s roster of champions

In total, there are five playable champions confirmed for 2XKO. They’ve shown up in prior playtests at events like EVO 2023 and Combo Breaker, and they’ve already been shown in this Alpha Lab build.

Here are the five playable 2XKO fighters that are confirmed at this time:

  • Ahri
  • Darius
  • Ekko
  • Illaoi
  • Yasuo

However, Riot have confirmed there will be a new champion available in this playtest that they haven’t revealed yet for this build.

Riot haven’t indicated who this champion will be, but it’s worth noting a concept for Jinx was shown when 2XKO was initially revealed as Project L.

She’s the only other champion we’ve seen in this game, but she’s been MIA in trailers for almost three years now. Jinx seems to be the most likely champion to be added, but, considering there are over 160 champions in League of Legends, it’s hard to say who will end up being this playtest’s last fighter.
