LoL players discover major issue with support items after Patch 14.2 changes
Riot GamesLeague of Legends players have discovered a major issue with the support item World Atlas after it received changes to its minion gold rule in Patch 14.2.
Season 14 of League of Legends has been a monumental period of change for the MOBA. The new season saw changes to the items, maps, and jungle camps, which dramatically shifted the balance of the title, and opened up new ways for players to approach the game.
Part of these changes were to support items, which simplified the starter item across the board. Now all support players pick up the item World Atlas when the match begins. This item combines both the effects of previous support items, letting supports share gold by executing enemy minions or by poking enemy champions.
Unfortunately, this item caused quite the issue when the season began, as players started to abuse double support items to create a ridiculous amount of gold generation. Riot has since rectified this issue with a change in Patch 14.2, but this has led to even more difficulties, as players can now troll one another with the item.
Patch 14.2 saw the introduction of a rule that reduced gold granted from minions to all players who buy World Atlas. This reduced the issue of double support items but instead introduced a new one where players could effectively troll their supports by grabbing the item themselves.
Players can give others on their team the reduced gole rule, provided they have the item. This means if you were feeling particularly nasty to your support, you could grab the item, farm a bunch of minions, and cause them to lose out on a bunch of gold for the entire game.
Not only that but even if the support player sells the item, they’ll still be locked out of gaining gold through slaying minions, locking them out of any form of gold generation.
Riot has not yet mentioned if they have plans to resolve this issue, but this may change with patches later down the line.
