Maokai dominates LoL with absurd win rates before planned Patch 14.3 nerfs
League of LegendsMaokai is dominating the LoL ranked ladder with some absurd win rates right before his planned nerfs in Patch 14.3.
As players look forward to League’s Patch 14.3 going live next week, they can rest assured that Maokai’s dominance may be toned down as throughout Patch 14.2 the Twisted Treant has been dominating the ranked ladder.
Despite not getting a buff in a while, since 13.15 to be exact, the treant has become quite the staple of Patch 14.2’s meta. So much so, his win rate has become quite absurd.
According to various LoL stats aggregators such as op.gg, lolalytics, and u.gg, when it comes to win rates, Maokai is squarely number one across all ranks.
The percentages vary from site, but Maokai’s win rate generally hovers around 55% with some change, putting him well above Lillia in second place. The tanky support’s high win rate comes as Season 14 shook up the meta considerably.
His early game dominance is nothing to scoff at, with a great amount of survivability to start off thanks to his passive. Into the mid-game, his kit filled with CCs is a perfect tool to start off team fights.
And once Maokai gets his ult, he becomes quite the threat as Nature’s Grasp is an incredible ability to gank, kick off a team fight, secure an area by zoning out the enemies, or even just as an ult to retreat with your team. Even more so is his potential to deal a high amount of damage thanks to his kit.
Luckily, Maokai is getting a nerf come Patch 14.3, with his Bramble Smash and Sapling Toss getting some number changes in hopes of curbing the treant’s dominance.
