Monster Hunter Now players are becoming “unmotivated” after rarity 5 monster materials continue to gate off progress.

Like the mainline Monster Hunter games, Monster Hunter Now requires players to both hunt and track down creatures to battle. Taking down high-star monsters have the chance to drop rarer materials, like Plates and Wyvern Gem Shards.

However, many of the game’s players are finding R5 materials incredibly hard to find. In fact, the community has stressed how the low drops have them feeling “unmotivated” to play. This is especially true when the lackluster drops are paired with low spawn rates for certain monsters.

Monster Hunter Now R5 material grind has players feeling “unmotivated”

“Anyone else stuck and feeling unmotivated? I’m HR 71 and have been playing casually since launch but recently I’ve been hard stuck with my gear. I’m a hammer main and can’t seem to get the grade 5 drops from Diablos to upgrade my hammer,” explained one Hunter on the Monster Hunter Now Reddit page

Well, OP is not alone as others were keen to stress how they too have been gated beehind the R5 material grind. “Yep, the R5 wall clearly demotivated me and reduced my playtime,” replied another Hunter.

“Almost in the same situation (HR89 lance main), most of my weapons are stuck on 5/5 and the game just straight out refuse to spawn the monsters I need or when they finally show up they are 4 or 5 stars and so can’t drop the required item.”

One of the biggest grinds seems to be surrounding Legiana, which is a monster players need to farm in order to forge Ice weapons. “My Legiana Bow has been sitting at 5.5 for 10 weeks. No R5 mats from her. Walling my progression, as I can’t solo kill six-star Hunt-a-thon Zinogre.”

Others have even expressed how the game’s grinding has become even tougher, particularly following Light Bowgun nerfs. “Yup after the LBG nerf, even with 7-5 weapons I can’t beat most 8-stars without perfectly dodging almost every single attack.”

So far, Niantic has remained silent on any changes to its monster material drops and Light Bowgun buffs, so for now, you’ll need to rely on RNG and win over that pesky desire sensor.
