Mortal Kombat 1 leak reveals new origin for Kombat Pack character Takeda
WB GamesAccording to a Mortal Kombat 1 leak, the familial relationship between Takeda and Kenshi changed drastically in the new universe.
Takeda Takahashi made his Mortal Kombat debut in MKX, specifically joining the franchise as the son of a classic 3D-era character – Kenshi Takahashi.
While he appeared briefly, Takeda didn’t return as a playable character on the MK11 roster. The Mortal Kombat 1 roster similarly left the younger Takahashi out of the loop, yet fans are thrilled that he’ll resurface in the first Kombat Pack.
Many expect Takeda will once more play the role of Kenshi’s offspring. But leaked voice lines suggest Liu Kang’s new timeline did a number on the Takahashi family tree.
Mortal Kombat 1 leak reveals a different family dynamic for Takeda
In addressing the ongoing talk about Kenshi and Takeda, Reddit user TyrionGoldenLion purported to have the inside scoop on one notable story change in MK1.
The Redditor shared what are supposedly datamined voicelines from the upcoming Kombat Pack DLC that will reveal Takeda is no longer Kenshi’s son. Allegedly, the two are cousins in the rebooted timeline.
One line of dialogue will reportedly involve Baraka asking Takeda if he fights better than his cousin. Kung Lao will dish out, “Your cousin says you can fight.” Another leaked voice line features Takeda referring to Kenshi as his cousin when going up against Scorpion.
The above should be taken with a grain of salt for the time being. After all, NetherRealm Studios has yet to so much as tease Takeda’s rebooted origin for Mortal Kombat 1. But if there is truth to the leak, it’ll be interesting to see how the altered family dynamic impacts the Takahashi clan – if at all.
The wait for concrete details may last for quite a while longer, though. As the first Kombat Pack character, Omni-Man will become available sometime in November 2023. Meanwhile, Takeda isn’t slated to arrive until Summer 2024.
