NCT’s Taeyong harassed online amid claims K-pop singer is “greedy” for second album
Youtube: SMTOWNNCT band member Taeyong announced his second mini-album, and K-pop fans immediately began harassing the singer online.
Taeyong first stepped out on his own with 2023’s SHALALA mini-album, on which the singer smashed streaming with songs like “Title Cut and “Ruby.” Released via SM Entertainment, the team behind the NCT supergroup, the album left quite a mark.
In under a year, the singer readies his second mini-album, titled TAP, which drops on February 26, 2024. The music project was revealed on February 7, and many K-pop fans were not too happy.
In fact, countless Twitter/X users blasted the singer as “greedy” for wanting to take the spotlight away from another NCT member, TEN, who will also release a self-titled album in February.
NCT fans didn’t hold back in their attacks against Taeyong
Across Twitter/X, NCT fans harassed Taeyong and claimed he was “greedy” for releasing another album in such a short window.
“I’m so happy to see how other fandoms are joining in and hating on Taeyong for ruining TEN solo debut,” said one user. “Ten deserves his moment not the greedy leader.”
Another called Taeyong a “a greedy f*cker” for the impending release, claiming the singer “begged SM to let him release another one this year.”
“F*ck Taeyong and his fans greedy af,” blasted another user.
“You’re right. Taeyong doesn’t deserve another solo most other members don’t even have one but his greedy ass needs another before enlisting,” said a fourth.
Despite the negativity, several fans defended the K-pop star and called out the “hateful” fandom. Reportedly, many NCT and TEN fans were posting hate-fueled responses under his Instagram photos and other posts across social media as well.
“Not only are 10velies harassing Taeyong by leaving hateful comments under his posts and unnecessarily tagging him in mistreatment posts, but they’re also tagging him in posts like this,” a user wrote, “When will people open their eyes and see how hateful this fandom?”
“10velys blaming Taeyong and calling him greedy for something that he has no control over?” considered another user, attaching a confused reaction vid.
While it’s unclear when NCT’s Taeyong will enlist for South Korea’s military requirements, the singer has been dropping hints. In late 2023, he teased on Instagram that he might be in service next winter. “I hope this Christmas isn‘t our last. Have a happier Christmas next year and see you again on Christmas 2025,” he captioned.
Mandatory service typically lasts 18 months, leading many to believe he’ll enlist in summer 2024.
