Rihanna fans demand new music after Fenty short film with A$AP Rocky
Youtube: Fenty Beauty by RihannaRihanna released a short film with A$AP Rocky for her Fenty Beauty brand, but fans were less than thrilled, demanding new music.
It’s been nearly eight years since Rihanna has released an album. Since 2016’s Anti, the singer has largely focused on her Fenty Beauty brand and stepped away from the spotlight.
While Rihanna has released such one-off singles as ‘Lift Me Up,’ from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, an album seems out of her grasp. Over the years, the singer has teased a comeback countless times, but nothing has ever come to fruition.
In lieu of a new song, Rihanna dropped a short film with A$AP Rocky, a film noir-style video to promote Fenty Beauty. And many fans said they “don’t care” and demanded the singer release music instead.
Rihanna fans didn’t hold back in their demands for new music
When the Fenty short film dropped, Rihanna fans immediately went on the defense and called for the singer to finally make her musical comeback.
“Rihanna we need a trailer for new music,” wrote one Twitter/X user.
“Doing anything but music,” said another.
“Ate, now can she ate an album please?” begged a third fan.
“Since it’s not new music, I do not care,” admitted another follower.
“New album in 2028 at this point,” said someone else.
“We don’t need this. We need music,” echoed a fan.
In promotion of the short film, Rihanna shared a mini trailer on her Instagram page, which was then flooded with similar comments.
“And that’s one of the most annoying things, you have time to make short films for your brands but you can’t release ONE single? You don’t do ONE thing for your fans, It’s so boring now,” said one fan.
“We’re SO TIRED OF YOU, girl. @badgalriri IT’S BEEN 8 YEARS. I finished school, now I’m almost graduating from college. LIKE? WHERE’S THE ALBUM?” declared another.
Despite having performed the halftime show at the 2023 Super Bowl, Rihanna didn’t release new music but instead revealed her pregnancy with her second child. Many artists use such a high-profile opportunity to launch new music, but Riri is just built differently.
