Taylor Swift fans anger Kanye West over scheme to block him from Hot 100
Wikimedia Commons, Jason PersseTaylor Swift fans posted a plot to buy and stream Beyonce’s ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ as a way to block Kanye West from debuting atop Billboard’s Hot 100. West wasn’t too happy, taking to Instagram to slam the fanbase.
Kanye West isn’t a stranger to putting Taylor Swift on blast. Their tumultuous relationship began after Ye interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 VMAs. Since then, the rapper has referenced the pop singer numerous times in songs, including on his just-released Vultures 1.
With the release of the joint album with Ty Dolla Sign, West has come under fire from music critics, including The Needle Drop’s Anthony Fantano, for what many deem offensive lyrics.
Initially, West faced little competition on the Billboard charts, but when Beyoncé announced a new album and dropped two country songs, all that changed. Bey’s ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ eyes a No. 1 bow atop the Billboard Hot 100 and competes against West’s ‘Carnival.’ Swifties quickly rallied behind Queen Bey, which caught the rapper’s attention.

“Swiftie emergency!” read a post from Twitter/X user souvlore. The post, which now resides behind “protected” posts, also included a breakdown of how to block West from the top slot.
“Remember he just dragged Taylor on his latest Instagram Story,” the fan said.
West didn’t take too kindly to being called out in such a manner. The self-proclaimed “new Jesus” went on a diatribe in an Instagram post. “I wasn’t even thinking about Taylor Swift,” he claimed. “That was a whole line before but I appreciate the free promo.”
Later, he recalled a time he was “on Taylor’s side when Scotter [Braun] bought her masters behind her back.” West is referencing Braun’s Ithaca Holdings selling off the masters to Taylor Swift’s first six albums, which lead the pop singer to re-record her catalog.
Ye went on to say that both Swift and Bey were “big inspirations to all musicians. We always say how both sell-out tours and movies.”
Expectedly, West made a controversial remark when he asserted that he’s “sure I’ve been far more helpful to Taylor Swift’s career than harmful,” he said. “To all Taylor Swift fans, I am not your enemy uuum I’m not your friend either though lol.”
In the lengthy Instagram post, Kanye West teased that a Travis Kelce reference, by way of Lil Wayne, would make it onto the forthcoming Vultures 2. The next installment is slated for a March 8th release.
“The media may control the narrative but the people have spoken,” he concluded.
