Tekashi 6ix9ine has reportedly been arrested by Dominican police and held in a Santo Domingo jail.

Real name Daniel Hernandez, the rapper has been in trouble with the law in the past. From being arrested for federal crimes to traffic violations and previous assault charges on two music producers.

In 2019, 6ix9ine was sentenced to two years in prison for using the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods as his “personal hit squad,” as Judge Paul Engelmayer said in court at the time. Engelmayer then added how Hernandez was a “central figure in a vicious and brutal gang.”

The rapper has reportedly found himself in the middle of a legal firestorm after he was picked up by Dominican police on domestic violence charges.

Tekashi 6ix9ine’s latest brush with the law lands him in jail

In a new report, Tekashi 6ix9ine has been arrested in the Dominican Republic on domestic violence charges reportedly relating to his girlfriend and reggae singer Yailin la Mas Viral. Allegedly, he was brought into the Palace of Justice in Santo Domingo due to “physical and psychological violence.”

6ix9ine was arrested on January 17 and awaits an appearance in court on January 18, during which time the judge will decide whether he will be released on bond.

Following the 2019 court appearance, 6ix9ine testified against two gang members, describing his role as “just keep making hits and be the financial support for the gang… so they could buy guns and stuff like that.”

He added that he only funded the gang because of his “career,” citing “street credibility” as a benefit. “The videos, the music, the protection – all of the above,” he said.

As for the latest assault charges, additional details are forthcoming.
