Is Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce retiring after Super Bowl LVIII?

Retirement rumors have begun swirling around Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce. Will he call it a career after Super Bowl LVIII and live happily ever after with Taylor Swift?

Travis Kelce grew up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and starred for the Cincinnati Bearcat college football team in his home state alongside his older sibling, Jason Kelce.

Travis eventually became the Kansas City Chiefs’ third-round pick at the 2013 NFL Draft. In 11 years with the franchise, Kelce has won two championships with a chance at a third in Super Bowl LVIII.

Kelce is also known outside the football world for two things: Dating pop icon Taylor Swift, and co-hosting one of the most popular podcasts on the internet with his brother, Jason.

At 34, Kelce isn’t ancient in football terms, but, for a tight end with nearly every record for the position and potentially three Super Bowl titles, it begs the question: What more is there to accomplish?

While riding off into the sunset with a Super Bowl victory and an incredibly talented girlfriend is an ending fit for Hollywood, many within Chiefs Kingdom argue that Kelce is not ready to hang up the cleats for good — at least, not yet.

The sweeping success of “New Heights” — Travis and Jason’s sports podcast — is another reason to point toward a potential retirement for the two brothers.

They’ve both joked on the show before about being able to make money without the physical toll and anguish that comes with playing football. Perhaps both Kelce’s have reached that point.

However, reporters asked Travis about Jason’s future during the Super Bowl LVIII press conference. He said he believes his big brother “has football left in him” and that fans shouldn’t rule out a potential return in 2024.

Either way, one thing is sure: Travis Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs will play for a chance at the Lombardi Trophy this Sunday. And you can bet his brother and Taylor Swift will be in attendance, cheering him on for what could be his last ride.
