Lions QB Jared Goff doesn’t even want to hear Skip Bayless’s opinion
YouTube: Official NFLDetroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff got asked about a quote from Skip Bayless earlier this week. He replied candidly with a blunt but honest opinion on the polarizing NFL analyst.
Bayless has never been shy about voicing his stance on any athlete. He famously ridiculed LeBron James frequently during his time at ESPN. So much so that several within James’ fan base still resent Bayless.
Often considered a pioneer in the “hot take” sports community, Bayless has spent nearly 50 years cutting his teeth in the game. However, seniority doesn’t always result in respect — especially from the folks Bayless bashes, both on his television programs and via social media.
Jared Goff is following in a long line of those who claim Bayless’s opinions have no validity. He said as much in a recent interview.
Goff responds to Bayless’s shade at the Detroit Lions
During a radio show appearance, host Doug Karsch asked Goff if bulletin board material is something NFL players actually use to their advantage. To which he replied, “Depends what it is. What do you got?”
The interviewer then began the question by sourcing this post on X. The moment Bayless came up, Goff shut it down instantly.
“Nah, I don’t care about anything he says. You can stop now,” the 29-year-old fired back.
Goff continued, “Anything those guys say on daytime TV, you can skip over that.”
It’s clear where Goff stands on the topic. And he’s certainly not the only one to express this feeling toward Bayless.
From former colleagues like Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe to current and past athletes, all have said negative things about Bayless’ hypercritical analysis.
At least for Goff and the Lions, they have collectively checked out of the sports debate discourse, opting to stay locked in for the all-important NFC Championship this weekend vs. the 49ers.
But that won’t stop Bayless from sharing his opinion on the game. His post shows that the long-time analyst gives Detroit zero chance of winning.
So far this season, that is when Jared Goff and the Lions have stepped up to the plate and delivered. Can they do it again on Sunday?
