NFL exec says Kirk Cousins and Bill Belichick will sign with Falcons

Reportedly, Falcons owner Arthur Blank has been courting the iconic head coach for weeks. Belichick already met with the team’s front office for two interviews in January.
After spending 24 seasons as the head coach of the Patriots, including a remarkable six Super Bowl victories, Belichick’s resume is unmatched by his peers.
If Belichick heads to Atlanta and signs a multi-year deal, he could potentially set the record for most wins by a head coach in 2025. But the Falcons are not stopping there.
Kirk Cousins is expected to follow Belichick to Atlanta
According to a recent article from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, citing NFL executives, the Falcons will unite Belichick and Cousins in Atlanta for the 2024 campaign.
Fowler claims Belichick would have pursued a veteran quarterback if he had returned to New England in 2024. So, the thought in league circles is that he would do the same in Atlanta.
In addition, Falcons GM Terry Fontenot will be active in finding an upgrade behind center. Desmond Ridder was underwhelming in 2023, sporting as many interceptions as touchdown passes.
“Kirk Cousins would be a great fit there,” one AFC front office member told Fowler. The 35-year-old signal-caller is coming off a devastating Achilles injury during the regular season but is hopeful to be 100 percent before Week 1.
When healthy, Cousins has been a model of consistency at quarterback. Before the Achilles tear, the veteran starter only missed two games in his six-year stint with the Vikings.
A pairing of Belichick and Cousins could do wonders for the Falcons. The team features several high-end offensive weapons, including Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts.
On defense, Belichick will have All-Pro talent littered across the unit. Jessie Bates III, Grady Jarrett, and A.J. Terrell fit the bill.
The NFC South is ripe for the picking, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the division with a paltry nine victories. The Falcons, winners of seven games in 2023, need a jolt to make up that two-game difference. Belichick and Cousins could be the answer.
