Overwatch 2 Competitive point changes

When Season 9’s Competitive overhaul came in, Overwatch 2 introduced the new Legacy Competitive points with it. So here’s a guide on what they are and how to earn them.

Over the past few Seasons, Blizzard has added quite a fair few new currencies to the game. Be it Mythic Prisms in Season 10 or Legacy Competitive points

Legacy Competitive points were the currency used to buy Golden and Emerald guns in Overwatch when it launched, but after some changes, it’s a bit different now.

So here is what you need to know about it.

How to earn Legacy Competitive points in Overwatch 2

Legacy Competitive points can only be earned by converting regular Competitive points into Legacy Competitive points, which was introduced in Season 9.

However, there is no way to manually convert regular Competitive points into Legacy Competitive points. The only way to convert it is to wait until the end of a Competitive year, which is when it will automatically convert regular ones to Legacy Competitive Points.

This is how you can earn each type of Competitive Point according to Blizzard

The end of a Competitive year usually coincides with the end of a year, which means the next one is at the end of 2024.

Whatever regular Competitive points you have gained from Season 8 and before have been automatically converted into Legacy Competitive points.

To earn regular Competitive points, they will be rewarded at the end of a Competitive season. The amount will vary based on your rank placement (the higher your rank the more points you earn), and additional points given based on how many matches you’ve won or drawn.

What are Legacy Competitive points used for in Overwatch 2

As of writing, there is no use for Legacy Competitive points in Overwatch 2.

After the addition of the currency, the devs responded to player complaints as it made it harder for fans to get Golden Guns. So in the next season, they made it so you could get Golden and Jade guns using regular Competitive Points.

In the Weapon Variants page, it is now not possible to purchase Golden skins using Legacy Competitive Points.

However, as a result, Legacy Competitive points have no use right now, as you can purchase both Golden and Jade guns for 3000 Competitive points each.

Knowing Blizzard, in the next few seasons they will add another cosmetic for players to earn.
