Season 9 brought a lot of changes into the game which has no doubt impacted many heroes, including Mercy.

Overwatch 2 Season 9 has brought some of the most drastic changes the game has ever seen. With new role passives, bigger projectiles, updates to heroes, and other changes, the game has finally shifted into a different meta.

Much like some of the heroes in the roster, Mercy has also received some tweaks to help the hero adjust in the current season. Aside from having more health, she received a small buff in terms of health recovery and Guardian Angel cooldown.

However, despite these changes, some Mercy players claimed the hero is “unplayable” in the game’s current state. In a Reddit thread, one user has poured out their frustration regarding playing Mercy this season, saying she’s “truly much harder to play.”

And because of this, they decided to opt for Ana and Moira, considering Mercy “doesn’t feel as playable anymore.” A portion of the comments seemed to agree with this take, with some claiming that she’s “awful” and her healing feels weak.

According to one person, her healing feels like “a wet noodle” because of the DPS passive, referring to the 20% reduced healing after a few seconds of taking damage.

Replying to this comment, one person wrote, “It does. I really feel it whenever I do play her, and when I play Kiri, it feels like my heals aren’t nearly as effective and sometimes feels more than a 20% decrease.”

A different user felt that she’s currently “awful” and claimed the new DPS passive and bullets hitting them more feels “disgusting.” They also said, “I really wish they buffed GA just a bit more. Maybe even sneak buff.. so the community doesn’t know and have anything to complain about because ‘nothing’ changed.”

Aside from that, some players argued that she can still be viable when played right. One user mentioned that while her healing feels “less impactful” in low ranks, damage boost “seems just as good if not better” and claimed that “Battle Mercy feels viable.”

“Sombras are learning they can’t just get a free kill when they hack me, and I will chase them down,” they added.

Meanwhile, another person explained that “heal bot Mercy is dead” this season. As a result, players are “forced” to utilize her damage boost more often.

Mercy isn’t the only hero that’s impacted by this season’s changes, as other players have also claimed that Hanzo feels “soulless” and tank is now the most “miserable” role.
