Overwatch 2 players convinced devs “hate” Brig as hero gets passed over in Season 9
BlizzardBrigitte is nowhere near the state she was at launch in Overwatch 2, but some players can’t help but think the hero has been lacking some love of late.
Overwatch veterans still remember what it was like when Brigitte first came out. Dive was the popular meta back then, but it all changed when Brigitte arrived in the first game’s Season 10.
Despite being a Support, many players considered her almost a Tank, due to her kit and damage. The crowd-control-based hero was also seen constantly dominating the ranked ladder, with people going as far as abusing her to climb to the Top 500.
She has received a lot of tweaks to make her more balanced since then. As a result, what was once a nearly unstoppable monster has dropped significantly in pick rate, according to Overbuff.
Now that she’s not seen as often as before, one player couldn’t help but think that the devs might actually “hate” Brig. According to their post on Reddit, the game has already gone through nine seasons in a row without a single Battle Pass skin for Brigitte.
“As a Brig main, I’m sad. My beefy paladin lady needs some love,” the user added. In the course of Overwatch 2, she has received some new skins, such as Antifragile BB from the LE SSERAFIM collab and Royal Captain Brigitte, but all these skins are from the game’s shop instead of the Battle Pass.
“I don’t even like Brig, but this is actually crazy; it really seems like Blizzard has some distaste for her if it’s been going on this long,” one user wrote.
“Revenge for how broken she was when she launched,” one chimed in.
Activision BlizzardOn the other hand, another user couldn’t help but point out that Kiriko and Mercy seem to be getting all the special treatment from Blizzard when it comes to skins.
They explained, “The skins in the shop have been good but it’s annoying not having ANY battle pass content for your character. But you know Blizzard, if you’re not playing Kiri or Mercy you get no skins.”
A lot of players agree with this take, with one user claiming that Mercy is the “money maker,” considering that she gets new skins almost every season, while Brigitte has only gotten one victory pose from the Battle Pass so far.
