It’s no secret that tank players are typically the ones who get endorsed the most for making huge plays in Overwatch 2, but at the same time, they’re also arguably the ones who get pointed at first when things go awry.
Add the fact that Overwatch 2 released drastic changes to the game this season, it’s clear that some tank players weren’t happy, going on to slam the role as now being the most “miserable.” Some players have also pointed out that playing tank should be “community service” due to how frustrating it is.
While players complaining about the state of tanks isn’t something new, some players continue to express their frustration regarding the role. This time, they’ve shared their frustration of getting sick of being “flamed” when picking up the role and getting hit with “tank diff” in a Reddit thread.
The user who posted the thread wrote: “I am getting so sick of support and DPS players flaming me when I play tank. I don’t claim to be the best in the world at this game. Lord knows I’ve tried to improve, but I think I’m just destined to be around gold/plat. I enjoy receiving valid criticism as I believe it helps me to improve or see things differently.”
Despite learning to improve, the user claimed that most players are just “hell-bent” on flaming whoever’s playing tank, which has been a recurring issue since the launch of Overwatch 2.
They also mentioned it’s easy for others who play a role where there’s another person to “fall back on” to say “tank diff,” adding to the frustration.
In the comments, many players agreed with the OP, with some even sharing their experience and advice regarding being blamed by others when playing tank.

“Even in situations where the tank isn’t to blame, they’ll find a way to blame them,” another chimed in.
Meanwhile, one user pointed out that “everybody makes mistakes,” just that tank players have “much more eyes on them.” They assured others that those playing in the backline could also do “weird stuff,” yet nobody would notice. However, it’s a different story for tanks.
Some players suggested that the OP mute others and keep playing regardless of their teammates’ words. While the situation for tank players might seem harsh at the moment, it looks like players will just have to adjust while they wait for the next balance changes.
