Overwatch 2 Wrecking Ball mains hope infinite grapple returns in upcoming rework
Blizzard EntertainmentBlizzard aims to unleash a Wrecking Ball rework for Overwatch 2 Season 10, and players hope the return of infinite grapple is on the docket.
Wrecking Ball has long been considered one of OW2’s most unique hero characters, thanks in no small part to his Grappling Claw and Roll abilities.
But even Wrecking Ball mains have expressed frustration with the character in recent months. For one, he doesn’t always fit well in 5v5 matchups, leading to Blizzard noting in late 2023 that he sat atop a shortlist of heroes in need of a rework.
It seems said rework will go live much sooner than some players may have thought.
Wrecking Ball improvements slated for Overwatch 2 Season 10
According to Overwatch news account Overwatch Calvary on Twitter, Wrecking Ball’s long-anticipated rework will officially go live in Season 10, which should arrive on April 9.
Specifics about the “small” overhaul presently remain under lock and key, the page noted. And, reportedly, the character “won’t receive any changes in the mid-season patch.”
Overwatch 2 players who love and loathe Wrecking Ball have already begun sharing their two cents. Those who aren’t too fond of the Tank character joked in response that devs should “should rework him out the game.”
Meanwhile, Wrecking Ball mains in the character’s subreddit have high hopes for the forthcoming update. Many want the hero to become better at peeling for teammates facing aggression from their opponents, for example.
And since a recent Doom buff increased his ultimate’s lowest damage output, users think Wrecking Ball deserves a similar boost.
Several people offered up another suggestion, with one writing, “Bring back infinite grapple.”
Making him unstoppable in Ball form and giving the Piledriver attack an unstoppable trait à la Mauga’s Charge constitute other changes high on the wishlist for players.
With about a month to go before OW2 Season 10 arrives, details about the Wrecking Ball rework should surface fairly soon.
