Overwatch 2’s top tank players claim one hero makes Season 9 “unbearable”
Blizzard EntertainmentTwo of Overwatch 2’s biggest tank streamers are blaming one hero for taking a lot of the joy out of Season 9.
The latest Overwatch 2 patch has completely changed the game with bigger projectiles, more health, a revamped ranked system and updates to literally every single hero.
One of the key new additions this season comes in the form of a new DPS passive that reduces healing received by 20% for two seconds when doing damage and it’s proven to be one of the most controversial changes so far.
However, one hero seems to be benefitting a bit too much from this change despite not being able to directly take advantage of it and Overwatch 2’s biggest streamers are calling for nerfs.
Overwatch 2 tank streamers want Zenyatta adjusted
In a new video going over the Season 9 patch, Overwatch 2 streamer Flats pinpointed Zenyatta as being the “thing destroying all happiness in this existence.”
According to Flats, Zenyatta’s Discord Orb, which enhances the damage an enemy takes, is becoming a huge problem whenever a target is also being shot at by a DPS hero.

“The stacking of those debuffs is so oppressive that I didn’t think it was possible, but this patch has somehow made it so tank is slightly more survivable under most circumstances, however, you have less impact than you’ve ever had before,” he said.
Flats further stressed that tank no longer feels as threatening because of the new DPS passive letting them cut through healing and Zenyatta just lets teams blow up targets with ease.
Fellow tank main LhCloudy echoed these statements. In a post on X, the streamer wrote, “Zen just makes the game unbearable.”
Luckily, Flats has a simple solution to the problem: letting the tank resistance passive apply to Discord Orb, the DPS passive and other abilities instead of just knockback and ultimate charge.
The devs, meanwhile, have yet to comment on Zenyatta specifically. That said, lead Hero Designer Alec Dawson stating that changes will be coming to projectile sizes along with HP adjustments. We’ll just have to wait and see if Zen is also on their radar and what the future holds when the next update goes live.
