Palworld devs reveal the game is only “about 60% complete” as it remains in early access

The smash hit Palworld has yet to reach its final form, as developers have revealed that it’s only around 60% complete in its early access phase.

Few games have achieved the level of success of Palworld in such a short period of time, including skyrocketing through the Steam charts and selling millions of copies, especially as it’s currently unavailable on Nintendo or PlayStation systems, nor mobile devices.

What’s even more impressive about Palworld’s success is that it’s still in early access. Palworld currently suffers from many glitches and performance issues, yet that hasn’t diminished the enthusiasm for the game, at least not in the way it does for the modern Pokemon titles.

But what about the future of Palworld? Is the early access period just an extended beta testing phase, or are there plans for more Pals to catch, buildings to make, and more lands to explore?

Palworld is around “60% complete” in early access

Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe recently spoke to Automaton about the future of Palworld. He revealed the game’s overall progress, as well as the current plans for the development team, as they continue work on Palworld.

“I think all the basic functions are set, so perhaps about 60% complete?,” Mizone said, “The next phase is all about further perfecting the game.”

“When we released Craftopia in Early Access, we really didn’t know anything, including what kind of game it was even supposed to be. But with Palworld, we know what kind of game we’re making. It’s a game in which you collect Pals, a game in which you fight bosses – a survival craft game.

“The important points that remain are how we’re going to implement PvP and to what extent we’re going to release new content. We’re also prepared to add new game functions, so we will observe user reactions and decide what to prioritize based on what everyone wants.”

Mizone is true to his word, as the recent Palworld roadmap has revealed that bug fixes and performance tweaks are the top priority, with PvP, Raid Bosses, Pal Arena, crossplay, and more content coming further down the line.

It’s exciting to think of what Palworld might look like in the future, but it needs to maintain its momentum for now. Palworld had an incredible start, but early 2024 is packed for new releases, meaning Palworld will want a content drip feed to avoid getting washed away in a tide of games.
