Can you get Shiny Xerneas & Shiny Yveltal in Pokemon Go?

Pokemon Go players can encounter Gen 6’s Legendaries Xerneas and Yveltal in Pokemon Go thanks to their 5-star Raids — but will you find a Shiny? Let’s find out.

Fans of the Generation 6 titles of Pokemon Go will likely recognize the version mascots of Xerneas and Yyveltal. Both of the Legendaries debuted in the mobile game in May 2021, with Zygarde being introduced later in July 2023.

With Xerneas’s reappearance in 5-star Raids from August 21, 2024, until September 3, some players may be wondering if they can encounter its Shiny version. Before facing Xerneas, here’s everything you need to know.

Are Shiny Xerneas and Yveltal in Pokemon Go?

The good news is that both Xerneas and Yveltal can appear as Shiny during their 5-star Raids.

Additionally, Legendary Raid bosses have a slightly better chance of being encountered as a Shiny compared to the run-of-the-mill wild Pokemon many players encounter.

Xerneas will be featured as a 5-star Raid boss from August 21, 2024, to September 3, 2024. It will also have its own Raid Hour on August 21 and August 28.

On the other hand, at the time of writing, Niantic has not announced the next time that Yveltal will appear in 5-star Raids. We will update this article if they announce any upcoming Yveltal Raids.
