Toxtricity Max Raid Battles event coming to Pokemon Sword and Shield
NintendoGigantamax Toxtricity is coming to Max Raid Battles in Pokemon Sword and Shield from Wednesday, February 5 until Saturday, March 7.
The Punk Pokemon isn’t a new addition to Max Raid Battles but hasn’t been easy to find. As the featured Gigantamax Pokemon for the month, trainers will now have a great opportunity to grab hold of one.
Gigantamax Toxtricity details
According to the official Pokemon website, Toxtricity stores electricity like a thundercloud. Being both a electric and poison-type, it is also said it stores one million liters of poison – we’ll let you do the math on that one. “Every time Toxtricity moves, poisonous liquid gushes out and pours down on opponents like acid rain.”

G-Max Move Stun Shock
Those of you who have already participated in Pokemon Sword and Shield’s Max Raid Battles will be aware that each species has its own G-Max Move. That means there are (currently) 26 G-Max Moves in total as there are 26 Pokemon capable of Gigantamaxing.
Toxtricity’s G-Max Move is Stun Shock. “Electric-type moves used by Gigantamax Toxtricity will change to G-Max Stun Shock.” In addition to dealing damage, it will also paralyze or poison all opponents on the field.
Amped and Low Key
Toxtricity has two forms depending on the nature of Toxel when you evolve it. It will evolve into its Amped Form if it has one of the following natures: Bashful, Bold, Calm, Careful, Gentle, Lonely, Mild, Modest, Quiet, Relaxed, Serious, or Timid.
You can obtain both of these in Pokemon Sword or Shield – they are not version exclusives. However, which Gigantamax form you encounter does depend on which version of the game you have.
Pokemon Sword players will encounter Amped Form Toxtricity, while Shield players can find the Low Key Form in Max Raid Battles. Luckily there is a way to encounter both, though.
If you join a Max Raid Battle hosted by someone with the other version to you, then you’ll be able to face off against the other form of Toxtricity.
In order to challenge Gigantamax Toxtricity you’ll need to download the latest wild area information. This will occur anytime your Nintendo Switch is connected to the internet.
If for any reason this doesn’t work, you can manually do so by opening the X menu, clicking Mystery Gift and then Get Wild Area News.
