Darkrai is one of the most feared and powerful Pokemon in the franchise, but how can this Mythical creature be acquired in Pokemon Go, and is its Shiny form also available?

The Mythical Pokemon from Gen 4’s Sinnoh region debuted in Pokemon Go a while ago, and for a long time, it was one of the most powerful creatures in the competitive scene. However, it was eventually nerfed.

Despite this, Darkrai is still a terror on the battlefield and one of the best Dark types available. This means it’s in high demand, so Pokemon Go fans will have to work hard to acquire this lord of nightmares for their team now that it’s coming back as a 5-Star Raid boss.

How to get Darkrai

Like most of the Legendary and Mythical Pokemon in the game, Darkrai can only be acquired after defeating it in a 5-Star Raid battle. This befits its status as a Mythical creature, as these are notoriously difficult to acquire in the mainline games.

Those looking for Darkrai are in luck, as it will appear in 5-Star Raid boss from October 28, 2024, until November 4, 2024, and on October 30, 2024, it will be the protagonist of the Raid Hour, starting at 6:00 PM local time.

Can Darkrai be Shiny in Pokemon Go?

Yes, Darkrai can be Shiny in Pokemon Go, as it was introduced into the game during Team GO Rocket’s Global Take-over event in March 2020.

Shiny Darkrai can be spotted easily as its usual black body goes deep purple. Additionally, its blue eyes turn green, and the red spikes around its neck change to pink.

Trainers will have the chance to find a Shiny Darkrai during its run as a 5-Star Raid boss, and even though there’s no way to secure a Shiny encounter, the more Darkrai Raids you participate in, the more chances of encountering its Shiny variation you’ll have.
