How to get Jangmo-o in Pokemon Go and can it be Shiny?
Niantic/The Pokemon CompanyThe Dragon-type Jangmo-o is a mighty Pocket Monster that first appeared in Pokemon Go back in March 2022 with the Welcome to Alola event. However, its slim chances of spawning made it almost impossible for players to catch it.
Since then, Jangmo-o has been featured in events like Lunar New Year 2024, but outside of these, its rarity makes getting a hold of one – or any of its evolved forms Hakamo-o and Kommo-o – quite difficult.
If you’re looking to add this tiny Pokemon to your team, here’s everything you need to know to catch it, evolve it, and whether you can get its Shiny version or not.
How to get Jangmo-o in Pokemon Go
There are currently three ways to get a Jangmo-o in the game:
- As a wild encounter (only while using the Daily Adventure Incense).
- Defeat and catch in 1-Star Raids.
- In 10 km and 7km Eggs.
Previously, players were able to get one as a reward for completing the first part of the Noxious Swamp Timed Research, which took place back in August 2023.
How to evolve Jangmo-o into Hakamo-o & Kommo-o in Pokemon Go
Jangmo-o evolves into Hakamo-o with the help of 25 Candy. Subsequently, you can use 100 extra Candy to evolve Hakamo-o into Kommo-o.
There are no special items or Buddy tasks required for this evolution, which makes the process relatively easy. However, the Pokemon’s rarity and the amount of Candy necessary means you’ll want to take advantage of Jangmo-o Raids when available.
Can Jangmo-o be Shiny in Pokemon Go?
Yes, Shiny Jangmo-o is available to encounter in Pokemon Go.
Jangmo-o’s Shiny form joins Pokemon Go in 7km Eggs, as part of the Pokemon Go Early Access Eggs-travanagza event, which is a precursor to the Pokemon Go Fest Global 2024 celebrations.
Players hoping to hatch a Shiny Jangmo-o must purchase a paid ticket for Go Fest Global, and try to hatch a Shiny Jangmo-o from 7km Eggs received and then hatched during the event.
