Nintendo / The Pokemon CompanyLugia, Celebi, and Ho-Oh are available for recruitment in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX for Nintendo Switch. Here’s everything you need to know about adding them to your team.
Mystery Dungeon DX released onto the Switch on March 6, at the courtesy of Nintendo and The Pokemon Company. It is a modern remake of the 2005 Game Boy Advance’s Red & Blue Rescue Team.
While the game has new features like autosave and Mega Evolutions, some things have also returned too such as being able to add Legendary monsters to your team – like Celebi, Lugia, and Ho-Oh, for example. If you’d like to know how to get them, keep on reading.
How to recruit Celebi, Ho-Oh, and Lugia
Like with all other Legendary Pokemon except Mew, Ho-Oh and Lugia will willingly join your squad automatically once you defeat them in battle. Celebi, though, is different – you don’t have to fight in order for him to get recruited. Instead, it’s just a case of finding and speaking to him.
In order to get to the point where you can add the mythical creature to your team, you need to have completed the main story campaign and also befriended Latios and Latias – two legendaries from Generation III.
After this, the Purity Dungeon opens up and after traversing through a massive 99 floors, you’ll find the level 55 Psychic/Grass type waiting at the top. Simply talk to it and it’ll join you automatically.
For Ho-Oh, you can’t reach his dungeon until you defeat Entei, Raikou, and Suicune. Then, Mt. Faraway will open up, and he can be found on the 60th floor.
It is recommended that you are at least level 50 before taking on the challenge, though you can do it earlier if you’re prepared for more of a struggle.
The Legendary bird is weak to Rock, Electric, and Water types, so make sure you bring along a team with a mixture of those moves in order to defeat him quickly.
To find Lugia, you’ll need to have recruited all three Legendary birds Zaptos, Articuno, and Moltres after defeating Latios and Latias. After this, Alakazam will tell you that there’s been a disturbance on Legendary Island.
Once there, the birds will transport you to the Silver Trench. Like the Purity Dungeon, it has 99 floors that you must battle through, so make sure you load up with Apples so that your hunger meter doesn’t run out.
After defeating Lugia, he’ll join your team automatically, and will also give you his Deepsea Current camp for free so that you don’t have to pay anything to host him.
