New Pokemon Go player boasts “insanely lucky” Shiny haul

With just 9 days of in-game time to their name, one lucky Pokemon Go player took to social media to show off their “insanely lucky” Shiny collection. Predictably, it sparked some conversation.

Hunting for Shiny Pokemon can be incredibly time-consuming, depending on which game it is that you’re playing. Pokemon Go Shiny hunters can spend months tracking down their favorite mons in the game – unless they’ve just joined the game, apparently.

With a grand total of 9 days spent in the game, one lucky player took to social media to ask the Pokemon Go community whether their experience with Shinies was normal or not.

New Pokemon Go player picks up incredible Shinies

Originally shown off in this Reddit post, Pokemon Go player SwimyCS shared a screenshot of their recent Shiny haul and described their experience with the game so far.

Alongside the incredible haul of Shinies, they noted that they’d also encountered other rare Pokemon like Galarian Zapdos during their time playing Pokemon Go.

Some of the Shiny Pokemon shown off in this haul – namely Shiny Salamence and Shiny Gabite – are fan favorites, so this post got some incredible reactions when posted to r/pokemongo.

One reader called the haul “crazy”, mentioning that it’s especially lucky to find both a Shiny Salamence and a Galarian Zapdos. They finished by reassuring SwimyCS that the catch rates for Galarian Zapdos are incredibly low, telling them not to worry about it.

Another reader simply responded “mate this is the opposite of normal” in response to the caption accompanying the original post.

There were plenty of theories in the replies about The Pokemon Company allegedly boosting Shiny encounter chances for new players in their first 7-10 days, with some players referring to the haul as a collection of “hook Shinies”.

Whether it’s boosted or not (this has never been proven), it’s certainly interesting to think about the Shiny odds in Pokemon Go. They’re better than most standard Pokemon games, but it’s still very tricky to track down specific Shinies or rarer Shiny Pokemon.
