Niantic gives Pokemon Go players compensation for Therian Tornadus Raid glitch
Niantic has introduced a free bundle as compensation for players who partook in a Therian Tornadus Raid when it was accidentally shiny-locked.
From January 10, 2024, to January 17, 2024, Pokemon Go players had the opportunity to catch Tornadus Therian Forme for the first time. The Flying-type Pokemon’s new forme is strong thanks to its newly introduced signature move, Bleakwind Storm.
Therefore its arrival had fans excited to catch it but an oversight on Niantic’s behalf proved problematic. The Cyclone Pokémon had been accidentally shiny-locked meaning it was impossible to encounter a shiny variant in raids.
Shortly after this was discovered, Niantic promised trainers they would be compensated for the mistake “in the coming days,” with that promise now being fulfilled.
Pokemon Go players compensated for Therian Tornadus Raid shiny-lock
Posting on the Niantic Support X/Twitter account, the Pokemon Go developer announced, “Thanks for your patience, Trainers. We have added a bundle to the shop for anyone who did a Therian Thundurus Raid during the affected time period. The bundle will be available until Feb 28, 2025.”
The compensation comes in the form of a Free Box containing x3 Premium Battle Passes and x1 Remote Raid Pass. These same rewards have been given to all players regardless of how many Therian Tornadus Raids were attempted.
Some confusion was caused by the wording of the tweet. Niantic claims the compensation was for players who did a “Therian Thundurus Raid,” but this appears to have been a communication mistake.
The Therian Thundurus Raid only went live on January 17, 2024, and there have been no reports of issues encountering shiny variants. However, there were problems with the Therian Tornadus Raid that was live last week.
