Pokemon fans split on which final evolutions “massacred” Pokemon
The Pokemon CompanyFinal evolutions in Pokemon should be exciting and fit into the Pokemon’s evolution chain nicely. That’s not always the case, though – some can be absolute disappointments.
Pokemon designs are always going to be divisive amongst the community but there seems to be a particular level of discourse associated with the final step in an evolutionary chain.
It does make sense, as people will follow their favorite Pokemon along the evolution process and get attached to them. Finding a disappointing final evolution can feel like a real let-down, and a group of Pokemon fans got together recently to discuss which ones they felt were the worst offenders.
Pokemon fans divided on the worst final evolution
Originally popping up in r/Pokemon, this post was put up by Pokemon fan SkeishDaLain and it’s gained a lot of traction with eager commenters.
In the original post, SkeishDaLain shared their thoughts on the Pokemon that had the best Stage 1 or Stage 2 designs compared to their final evolutions. Their picks included the Gengar and Raichu lines, along with Pawmi, Quaxly, and Zorua.
The recent starters seemed to get a lot of heat in particular in the comments, with one user declaring that “all four paws should’ve stayed on the ground” when talking about Litten and Sprigatito.
This was echoed by a lot of other commenters. Incineroar and Meowscarada seemed to go down badly with a lot of folk, and one commenter even noted that Litten and Sprigatito were some of the only Pokemon that they’d actually give an Everstone to.
One person noted that Spheal should’ve been left as a single evolution Pokemon, calling it “peak Pokemon design” – which is absolutely fair.
Another queried why Onix got an evolution at all, asking “why did they turn my favorite Pokemon into a shovel with bad dental care?”
Something that was mentioned many times throughout the thread is the amount of incredible fan art that re-imagines Pokemon with new evolutions and themes. There are countless talented artists in the community and anything that mentions additional evolution forms seems to always be a hit.
