Pokemon fans want more merch of these “unloved” picks

Pokemon fans are making their case for the ‘Mons that they think deserve more merchandise, as they’re criminally underlooked compared to the likes of Pikachu.

There are over 1000 Pokemon in existence, and all of them are at least one person’s favorite Pokemon. There are some obvious choices, like the Charmander line, but even the likes of Trubbish have fans somewhere in the world.

Naturally, some are more popular than others. Pokemon like Pikachu, Gengar, Lucario, Greninja, and Dragonite are beloved worldwide. This means they get way more merchandise in the form of plushies and clothes that bear their image.

The popularity of some Pokemon over others means that the more forgettable Pokemon don’t receive as much merchandise as others. This leaves their fans out in the cold, as it can be harder to buy plushies or clothing with the Pokemon on it.

Pokemon fans want more merch of these ‘Mons

A user on the Pokemon Reddit has asked the fanbase which Pokemon deserves to have more merchandise than it currently receives. A few names rose to the front of the pack, as the criminally underrated ‘Mons were finally given some love.

“GOLURK. Honestly, most of the ghosts types that aren’t Mimikyu and Gengar need way more love. But Golurk is such a cool dude, he’s basically a mecha. He deserves way more recognition overall,” one user wrote, while another said, “Cradily deserves way more than it is getting.”

“Malamar. The only things I’ve seen were a little finger puppet I bought off ebay a year ago, and a keychain on the Pokémon Center website,” one squid enjoyer wrote, while another said, “Luxray, he’s my favorite electric type and it’s so hard to find merch, oh and Stufful, same goes for her.”

“Combee. They’re freaking cute af,” one bee Pokemon fan said, “Imagine Combee earrings. Oh, and we need more Beedrill merch, too. And more Dragonair. The bracelet is cool, but the plushies look pretty bad, IMO.”

A few fans also asked for more Porygon merchandise, but that’s unlikely to happen, considering Porygon’s dark history with the franchise. The time has long passed for the “Porygon Incident” from the anime to be forgiven, so maybe it will be given more love one day.

Even if The Pokemon Company isn’t willing to make tons of merchandise for every Pokemon, plenty of fan creators can still fill the void. Those who adore the likes of Dunsparce can get all the gear they want, assuming they don’t mind paying for custom items.
