Pokemon Go 2019 community days revealed

Paul Cotton

Niantic have finally revealed the Pokemon Go community day dates for the remainder of 2019, and there might be an extra big event to conclude the year.

We already know that the September Community Day will take place on September 15 from 11am to 2pm, local time. It will be headlined by Turtwig, the grass-type starter from Gen 4.

2019 Community Day dates

The dates for the remainder of the 2019 community days are as follows:

  • October 12 from 11am to 2pm local time
  • November 16 from 11am to 2pm local time
  • December 14–15 from 11am to 2pm local time (both days)

Chimchar is very likely

Niantic have yet to reveal the headlining Pokemon for any of these events but November looks likely to be headlined by Chimchar. Odd months has exclusively been headlined by starter Pokemon and in a particular order.

The starter Pokemon after Turtwig is Chimchar. This in terms of Pokedex number and follows the consistent grass to fire to water-type trend. This also means Piplup will be expected to headline in January 2020.

Trapinch or even Gible?

Predicting October is a little more tricky but Pokemon that have yet to feature in even months include the rumored Trapinch and Gible. The latter is looked at particularly fondly by the Pokemon community and is infrequently seen in the wild. Maybe this could be a hint it will headline October.

Could Gible be the October headliner?

Another huge community day in December?

One interesting part about the 2019 schedule is that the December 2019 Community Day will be held over two days. This suggests it will be an end of year celebration event.

It could work similarly to the December 2018 community day whereby all the previous headlining Pokemon from that year were available. The difference between them though, is this years will be held over two three-hour slots whereas last year was held over the whole weekend.

If the Pokemon Go December 2019 community day is as expected then the following Pokemon will be available:

  • Totodile
  • Swinub
  • Treecko
  • Bagon
  • Torchic
  • Slakoth
  • Mudkip
  • Ralts
  • Turtwig
  • October – possibly Trapinch or Gible
  • November – probably Chimchar
  • December – all of the above
The December 2018 community day was a huge event celebrating the previous days…

As the summer comes to a close, there is still plenty to look forward to for the rest of 2019. With the introduction of Gen 5 on the horizon, and plenty other surprises likely, there will be lots to keep Pokemon Go trainers busy.
