Pokemon Go community crowns ‘best PokeStop’ and its description is amazing
Pokemon Go players believe they have found the best PokeStop in the world, thanks to a humorous description that raises questions about why it was even included in the game.
The Pokemon Go community may have uncovered the best PokeStop in the world, as the Falls Township Water Tower stands above them all due to its funny description that was discovered by a player and shared online.
PokeStops are usually placed next to real-world landmarks, each bearing a Photo Disc that players can spin to earn items or experience points. Looking out for PokeStops is a great way to find beauty spots or obscure artwork in a city, especially as players will be seeking them out anyway for their precious loot.
Fans can request that PokeStops be edited, as players are encouraged to report any inaccuracies with a PokeStop or whether they believe it’s an unsuitable location for the general public. If a player clicks on the arrow next to a PokeStop’s name, they will be shown a better-quality image of the Photo Disc. There’s a little icon in the description that lets players submit information about the site, which means fans can have some fun if their PokeStop suggestions manage to slip through the cracks.
Pokemon Go’s best PokeStop has been crowned by players
A user on the official Pokemon Go Reddit has uploaded an image of what they declare to be “the best PokeStop description.” This lofty claim is accompanied by a photo of the Falls Township Water Tower, whose description reads, “Located out near the river. I’m not really sure why this is needed. I mean, there’s a whole river full of water there.”
It seems that someone managed to slip a goofy description past Niantic’s approval process for PokeStop edits. It is unclear whether this was an oversight on the part of Niantic or whether it was let through due to its comedy value.
The other users in the thread pointed out that water towers have many uses and are not there just to store water. This is because Water Towers are important for maintaining pressure, which sends the liquid to faucets. Whoever wrote the PokeStop joke should have checked Google first.
Regardless, the description proves that PokeStops are vulnerable to having their description changed for silly reasons. Then again, ensuring the description of the Falls Township Water Tower is accurate is probably low on Niantic’s priority list.
Luckily, most people never bother to read the descriptions of the PokeStops, as they show up, spin the Photo Disc, nab the items, and leave. This means there could be a whole treasure trove of hilarious PokeStop descriptions out there that have yet to be discovered.
