Pokemon Go Dialga raid guide

Dialga is one of the most powerful Legendaries in Pokemon Go, but if you know the right counters to combat its weaknesses, you’ll be able to defeat and catch one in no time.

Now that the dust has settled on Pokemon Go Fest 2021, many Trainers will be looking ahead to the future. Fortunately, Niantic is keeping things exciting with the Ultra Unlock event, as Dialga is returning to 5-Star Raids and making its Shiny debut!

With a high max CP, some excellent moves, and a brilliant dual Dragon/Steel-typing, it’s easy to see why Dialga is considered to be not just one of the best Master League contenders, but one of the best Pokemon in Go full stop.

As a result, we’d recommend that every Trainer should have one in their collection. Here’s everything you need to know about Dialga’s return to 5-Star Raids so you can defeat it and catch one for your own team.

Dialga weaknesses in Pokemon Go

Dialga is a Dragon/Steel-type Pokemon, which means it’s only weak against Fighting and Ground-type moves. This means Trainers should bring their strongest team of Fighters and Ground-types into battle.

In terms of Dialga’s resistances, there are plenty. You’ll want to avoid Normal, Flying, Rock, Bug, Steel, Water, Electric, and Psychic. Definitely avoid Grass and Poison, as Dialga is double resistant against both.

Below, we’ve put together some of the best counters to take advantage of Dialga’s weaknesses and defeat it in battle.

How to catch Dialga in Pokemon Go

The only way to catch Dialga is to first defeat it in a Raid Battle. Dialga will appear in 5-Star Raids from July 23, 2021, at 10AM to August 6, 2021, at 10AM local time.

As a Raid Boss, Dialga will have a huge 53394 CP, meaning it won’t go down easy. We’d recommend that you team up with at least 5 or 6 other Trainers to battle it.

Dialga CP Range

Dialga can be caught with a range of 2217 to 2307 CP. With a weather boost (Windy or Snow), Dialga can be caught with a range of 2771 to 2884 CP.

Is Shiny Dialga in Pokemon Go?

Pokemon Go Shiny Dialga
Shiny Dialga has finally made its debut in Go.

Yes, Shiny Dialga is available in Pokemon Go. This rare variation actually made its long-awaited debut during the Ultra Unlock Part 1 event, so it’s a very recent addition to the game.

There’s no secret method to encounter a Shiny Dialga, as it will happen entirely at random. If you’re determined to catch one, though, our best advice is to stock up on Raid Passes and battle as many Dialga as you can.
