Pokemon Go February Community Day announced!

Paul Cotton

Niantic have finally revealed the details for the upcoming Pokemon Go February Community Day! Rumors and guesses as to which Pokemon would feature were rampant but we now have clarity…

Update: The Pokemon Go February Community Day has been fully confirmed.

February 2019 Community Day

The headlining Pokemon for the February Community Day is Swinub! As with other community days, the ice-type, generation two Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild during the event.

At first glance the announcement of Swinub may not appear particularly exciting. It isn’t a difficult Pokemon to find. Therefore, some trainers may be wondering why it’s headlining a community day.

Well, the answer is Niantic are using Swinub to introduce Mamoswine, Swinub’s third-tier, generation 4 evolution. Of course, if you don’t already have one, you’ll need to evolve Swinub into Piloswine first.

Furthermore, the introduction of Mamoswine appears to be a tactic to enocurage Pokemon Go trainers to try PvP battling. During the event, the relatively new Trainer Battles, will have increased rewards. This includes earning up to 5 Sinnoh stones. These Sinnoh stones are required to evolve Piloswine into Mamoswine.
