Pokemon Go player didn’t realize she had incredibly rare Pokemon for over a year
Niantic / The Pokemon CompanyWhile going through their girlfriend’s Pokedex, one Pokemon Go trainer realized she’d caught quite a rare Pokemon and didn’t even know.
One of the thrilling things about catching monsters in Pokemon Go is that trainers never really know what they will run into out in the wild.
The mobile monster-catching game offers fans the opportunity to catch a variety of rare Pokemon, ranging from Shinies to Hundos, or even a mix of both.
However, sometimes trainers may land an extremely rare Pokemon and not even know, as was the case with one player who held onto a ‘hundo’ for an entire year and didn’t even know.
Pokemon Go trainer holds onto rare Unown for over a year
A post on the Pokemon Go subreddit recounted the story for other members of the community, in a thread titled, “My girlfriend had this and she didn’t even know.”
The OP attached a screenshot of the Pokemon their girlfriend’s Pokemon, which was the U-shaped Unown.
After appraising the Unown, the trainer realized their girlfriend managed to catch a hundo without even knowing it. What’s more, they held onto it for well over a year, as it was caught on February 26, 2022.
For those who may not know what a ‘hundo’ refers to in Pokemon Go, it is a Pokemon that is measured at Four-stars after appraisal. Four-star, or ‘hundos’ as dubbed by the community, have maxed out stats in Attack, Defense, and HP.
Plenty of players found the story amusing, especially given the Pokemon it centered around. “It was unknown to her,” said one trainer, while another joked, “You can say, it’s an Unown hundo.”
Other players shared their own stories of friends who didn’t know what rare monsters they had as well.
“I talked a coworker into playing PoGo recently and while showing off our different shiny mons, he complains that he only has 1,” recounted one trainer. “A shiny Lickitung… Turns out it is a shundo.”
Stories like these just show that trainers should always be meticulous when it comes to appraising Pokemon, as you never know what you’re holding onto among the sea of catches.
