Pokemon Go trainer surprised after receiving shock gift from North Korea
The Pokemon CompanyA Pokemon Go player can’t believe that they received a gift from a trainer located in North Korea.
Since the mobile game launched in 2016, a few countries have banned Pokemon Go. For example, Iran’s High Council of Virtual Spaces attributed security concerns to why it prohibited people from playing Pokemon Go.
Additionally, China banned the mobile game due to it being a safety hazard for drivers and pedestrians. It also could compromise certain locations.
Considering North Korea’s status as a communist nation, one Pokemon Go player was shocked after opening two postcards from the country.
Pokemon Go player never deleting gifts from North Korea
A Reddit user posted two surprising images of gifts from North Korea on the Pokemon Go subreddit. “Idk if the sender spoofed or was actually there, but these gifts are NEVER leaving my postcard collection,” the OP captioned the photos.
The trainer received the first postcard from a Buddha in Jonchon, North Korea, and the second from Hamgyong, North Korea. Both locations are several hours away from Pyongyang, the country’s capital.
“These are so cool. I didn’t even realise pogo was allowed in NK,” one person said. Others speculated that a tourist could have sent the postcards while visiting North Korea instead of a local.
“I always thought it was blocked by Niantic? There are videos online showing no Pokemon spawning and no stops or arenas being present. Those were from 2016, but I never thought they changed their mind,” another user remarked.
“Either a spoofer or you found Kim’s Pokemon Go account,” a third player suggested.
Another Pokemon Go trainer recounted on Reddit how they shockingly caught a Cacnea with the location “Hamhung, North Korea.” This left them wondering why Pokemon spawned in North Korea.
