Pokemon Go players are giving up on “trash” eggs

Pokemon Go players are ditching the Egg mechanic, as it never offers anything worth the effort to hatch them.

The Egg mechanic in Pokemon Go is much simpler than in the mainline game version. In most Pokemon titles, you need to mess around with the Day Care Center, skate back and forth on your bike, and if you’re lucky, you might breed a Pokemon worth the hassle.

In Pokemon Go, you can receive Eggs by spinning PokeStops or from Gifts sent by other players. All you need to do is put one in an Egg Incubator, walk around, and the Egg will eventually hatch.

While receiving and hatching Eggs in Pokemon Go is simple, the rewards aren’t to the liking of many fans, who don’t want to bother with the Eggs anymore, as it’s not worth the minimal effort required to engage with the mechanic.

Pokemon Go players aren’t bothering with Eggs anymore

A user on the Pokemon Go Reddit has created a thread complaining about hatching Eggs, as the rewards are always the same and not worth bothering with. Other users quickly agreed, claiming that the Egg mechanic had grown stale.

“For a game that is supposedly all about getting people to go out and explore, they’ve done a terrible job at making egg hatches any sort of incentive,” one user wrote, while another said, “We need to boycott eggs. I’m sick of Niantic shoving incubators down our throats trying to make up for their remote raid pass mistake.”

“Same I absolutely dislike the egg pools. Seriously a damn Sandile!?!?,” according to one user, while another wrote, “Yeah, I quit buying incubators a couple months ago. They’re worthless for anything other than generating some stardust.”

The complaints are centered around the lack of interesting Pokemon. The Eggs in Pokemon Go are limited by rotating pools, and if there’s nothing you want, then the mechanic is pointless until the next cycle.

Pokemon Go incentivizes the player to log in every day, and the Eggs should be a great way to do that, but if your only reason to engage with it is the slim hope of a Shiny or a Hundo, then it’s an easy mechanic to forget about completely.
