Pokemon Go players can’t wait to grind “legendary” August Community Day Classic
The Pokemon CompanyPokemon Go’s Community Day Classic has been confirmed to feature Beldum, and fans couldn’t be happier with the choice.
Revealed in a short teaser by Niantic on X/Twitter, the Gen 3 ‘mon’s original Community Day occurred back in October 2018 and has been a frequently requested returnee for subsequent Classic events.
Naturally, the mobile game’s community has applauded the announcement, with some labeling the decision a “dream come true.”
“Most excited I’ve been for a Community Day in ages,” came one reply on Reddit, with another fan admitting that the event could convince them to “install the game again just for a chance at a Shundo Metagross.”
Others made no secret of their intention to go hard on grinding for the perfect Beldum. “Holy moly, the grind is going to be legendary.”
It’s worth noting that Metagross is one of only a handful of Pokemon still missing its Mega form. With Lucario having made its debut in July, this could be an indication that Niantic plans for the Ruby & Sapphire pseudo-Legendary to be next.
Even if that doesn’t end up being the case, base form Metagross is already a top-tier Raid staple thanks to Meteor Mash. The move, only obtainable when evolving Beldum into Metagross during its respective Community Day, is one of the strongest Steel-type moves.
Beldum’s Community Day Classic takes place on August 18 between 2-5 PM local time. Until then, there’s plenty more going on in Pokemon Go. Adventure Week: Taken Over kicks off August 8, bringing with it boosted spawn rates for Rocket Grunts and Shadow Cresselia‘s debut in Raids.
Popplio’s Community Day debut will close out the summer, complete with all the usual expected boosts and refreshed Research Breakthrough rewards.
