Pokemon Go players compare the Shiny they’re “cursed” to always catch

Some Pokemon Go players are cursed always to catch Shiny versions of the same Pokemon, giving them excessive numbers of the extremely rare Pokemon.

In the Pokemon series, Shiny Pokemon are valuable due to how rare it is to encounter one, even when using Shiny hunting methods. Despite players not wanting a specific Shiny Pokemon, they’re highly prized for trading.

Pokemon Go players have things a little easier, as Shiny rates are higher than in the mainline games, and there are also regular events that boost the Shiny rate even further. The fact that you’re always encountering Pokemon for catching purposes also means you’re likely to wander into a Shiny one.

The higher Shiny rate means that dedicated Pokemon Go players are often spoiled for choice when it comes to Shiny Pokemon, to the point where they have so many that the appeal starts to fade away.

Pokemon Go players are catching the same Shinies

A user on the PokemonGOValor has created a thread asking fans what Pokemon they repeatedly catch Shiny versions of, showing numerous Shiny Scyther and Shiny Scizor that they have caught to date.

“Mine is also Scyther. My 11 year old has gotten about 20 Hopip shiny. My wife has the same luck with both Skarmory and Klink,” one user wrote, while another said, “Mine is swablu. I got like 11 of them. And not even from the community day.”

One player is stuck catching a valuable Pokemon. “Mine is Bidoof. Everyone wants one so bad for the lore, and I can’t stop getting them.” This refers to the meme of catching Shiny Bidoof and showing it off or using a Master Ball on one of them.

“Man I wish I was cursed with Scyther shinies,” one user lamented “I’ve never gotten one. For me it’s Bronzor and funny enough Thundurus. I only did 3 Thundurus raids earlier this month and got 3 shinies. Wish I didn’t waste my luck on them :(“

Ultimately, Shiny hunting is the luck of the draw, and with so many people playing Pokemon Go, you’re going to get people who keep encountering the same Shiny Pokemon repeatedly. At least they can trade them away, or if Pokemon Go adds Wonder Trades, they can be given to strangers.
