Pokemon Go players learn Xerneas has a secret trait
The Pokemon CompanyConfused players are asking questions about Legendary Pokemon in Go after one of the current Raid Bosses had trainers scratching their heads.
The deer-like Xerneas comes from Pokemon X & Y and is back in raids after a prolonged absence. But, some Pokemon Go fans are asking just why it looks different in a battle to its appearance in storage.
Thankfully there is a simple answer, and it was already revealed back in Kalos. The question was originally brought up in a Reddit post, and the Pokemon community was happy to help.
The author posted a clip of Xerneas in battle – with its bright, colorful horns visible – alongside the comment “Guess I’m stupid, but why did my Xerneas change colors after getting caught??” Then, they add another picture of Xerneas in storage with a more muted palette.
One of the top comments underneath the post gets straight to the point, answering, “Xerneas in ‘battle’ has a different coloration, not sure exactly how it works in Pogo but in the mainstream games Xerneas looks blue like that when he’s on the PC.”
For anyone wanting a bit more explanation, a further comment clarifies that Xerneas has a “Passive and Active forme” and while they don’t function any differently, this does change the color of the creature inside and outside of battle.
Other people had even more questions about the forme change, as one comment asked, “Does it change stats as well?” Plenty of comments underneath help to clear this up, as one person adds that Xerneas does not change stats between forms.
“The Ability may trigger the cosmetic change, but Fairy Aura still buffs the power of Fairy moves in mainstream games. Xerneas just have a different look based on if it is in battle or not that doesn’t affect anything” said one person.
Not every answer is quite as helpful though, as one person answered the original question by saying, “Batteries went out” while another person backs up the original question, adding, “lol you’re not alone I was thinking the same thing.”
