Pokemon Go players praise “amazing” Poke Ball crafting idea

Crafting Poke Balls in Pokemon dates back to Pokemon Gold & Silver, where players could bring Apricons to Kurt, who could then use them to build new balls for the player to use.
The Poke Ball crafting mechanic has appeared sporadically throughout the series, likely because it’s rarely used. Players can get great results with status effects and Ultra Balls, so there’s little reason to spend time making specialized Poke Balls, save for a few instances, like Love Balls.
Unfortunately, Pokemon Go lacks a Poke Ball crafting mechanic. This is a shame, as players can’t rely on status effects to help them catch wild Pokemon. Instead, they’re stuck with berries, special throws, and the regular Poke Balls to help them.

A user on The Silph Road Reddit named gameheroes has created an awesome concept for Poke Ball crafting in Pokemon Go. The idea is for players to receive crafting material from regular gameplay, like spinning PokeStops, catching wild Pokemon, or beating other players.
With these crafting materials, the player can craft new Poke Balls in Pokemon Go. The more powerful Poke Balls (like Luxury Balls and Heavy Balls) have a higher material cost, which means players need to engage with the game to unlock them.
“This would be great. One of the more fun elements in Legends Arceus!” one user responded, while another said, “This would be pretty sweet, just sucks that they have the ability to make this game amazing with features that people want and they just don’t, so frustrating.”
“Well done. I’ve wanted alternate balls for… years now,” a user said, “Even just like “trophy” balls, like you would get 5 commemorative balls if you went to go fest, or something, that didn’t even provide a catching advantage, just something to use on a special pokemon or whatever.”
For years, Pokemon Go fans have wanted more Poke Ball varieties for both the aesthetic appeal and how they can be used to catch specific Pokemon. Hopefully, Niantic will add such a feature in a future update, expanding on the Poke Ball crafting concept in a game where it can be used best.
