Pokemon Go players slam Timeless Travels rewards: “They could have done better”
Niantic/The Pokemon CompanyPokemon Go players are underwhelmed by the rewards given for completing the new Timeless Travels event season, especially factoring in the work involved.
Those currently playing Pokemon Go can participate in the Timeless Travels event, where creatures introduced in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, such as Enamorus, will be brought into the mobile game.
Timeless Travels also features its own Special Research tasks. These are spread across fourteen different steps and involve completing various activities, including catching Pokemon, defeating Team Rocket Grunts, hatching Eggs, sending Gifts, and performing Curveball Throws.
If you complete the first thirteen steps, you’ll be rewarded with the fourteenth step, which includes 5000 XP, 5 Golden Razz Berries, a Lucky Egg, and a guaranteed wild Pokemon encounter. Unfortunately, many fans are unhappy with the Pokemon you meet when you complete all the steps.
New event rewards underwhelm Pokemon Go players
A user on the Pokemon Go Reddit has created a thread complaining about the Gible you encounter for finishing the Timeless Travels Special Research. The reward is especially underwhelming, as you need to beat Giovanni and his monstrous Shadow Kyogre to complete all tasks.
“I’ve already got a hundo shiny Garchomp from the raids.. I was really hoping this 14 page quest would be something good. That’s really disappointing,” one user wrote, while another said, “Agreed, a very underwhelming prize for a season long research.”
“Playing for years, I am not surprised with the rewards now,” another user wrote. “The only reason I complete the tasks is to clean off the list. I sit at 500+ perfects so don’t even care.”
The Gible reward is especially frustrating for people residing in the Southern Hemisphere, as it’s a regular encounter in that region, or at least during the Timeless Travels event.
Some fans consider the Shadow Kyogre to be the true reward for the event, but that involves an incredibly difficult fight against Giovanni, which requires much more preparation than a standard Team Rocket Grunt or Leader. In comparison, the Gible feels like an afterthought.
A Gible is a useful Pokemon to have early on in the mainline games, especially as it evolves into the almighty Garchomp, but it’s not quite as impressive as the final reward for a major seasonal event in Pokemon Go.
