Shiny hunting in Pokemon games has been a tradition for many fans ever since the concept was first introduced in Generation 2.
While the method to hunt Shinies has changed fairly dramatically in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, the activity is still—with some fans even preferring the changes made in Gen 9.
Thanks to the way Shiny encounters work in Paldea, some fans have stumbled across these monsters in some unexpected ways, as evidenced by players showcasing the “funniest” ways they’ve found Shinies.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet fans share “funniest” Shiny encounters
A post on the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet subreddit sparked a discussion among fans after one player made a thread titled, “I’m an avid shiny hunter. Here’s the funniest way I’ve found a shiny.”
The post included a video of a trainer jumping off an extremely high cliff while riding Koraidon and plummeting into the ocean below. Right before they hit the water, a flock of Kilowattrel spawned in with the player landing on a Shiny variant.
The OP explained, “Found this clip from a year ago. I was working on my “all shiny birds” hunt and somehow managed to dive bomb this poor Kilowattrel.”
Fans in the comments loved the clip and shared their own stories of the funniest ways they’ve encountered Shiny Pokemon.
“I jumped into the Torchlit Labyrinth in Indigo Disk for the first time and landed directly on top of a shiny marked Gothita lol I couldn’t believe it,” said one lucky trainer.
Another fan shared a similar encounter and said, “I did something similar when Teal Mask came out, had an outbreak of Quaqsire and thought to myself ‘I wonder if there is a shiny down there’ this was the area with all the water and spikey mountains. I jumped down and landed next to a shiny Quaqsire.
Considering base Shiny odds are 1/4096 in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, some of these trainers appear to be quite lucky indeed.
