Pokemon Scarlet & Violet players baffled after fan complete game with Smoliv
The Pokemon CompanyThe Pokemon League of Paldea has fallen to a single Smoliv, thanks to one Pokemon Scarlet & Violet fan’s challenge run.
The Pokemon series is well-known for its challenge runs, the most famous being the Nuzlocke challenge, where players only catch one Pokemon per area and release them if they’re ever KO’d in battle, creating a potential game over state.
There are also challenge runs where players complete the game with a single Pokemon. This is easier for some Pokemon than others, as a powerful Dragon-type can squash most competitors, but a Ditto or a Slakoth will struggle due to their particular gimmicks.
The Pokemon games aren’t designed for these challenge runs, so some of the most surprising Pokemon can finish them. These include Pokemon that seem weak but can potentially destroy the competition when not hampered by teammates.
Someone beat Pokemon Scarlet & Violet with Smoliv
A user on the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Reddit managed to defeat the main storyline with only a Smoliv. They also chronicled their journey on the Perhaps-Cow YouTube channel. They completed all the Gyms, defeated the Titans, and beat all the Team Star Hideouts with the Smoliv.
The rules involved not using bag items, not changing Smoliv’s Grass Tera-Type, and no Friendship bonuses, though they did use held items during the run.
“The weakest champion got obliterated by an olive, nice,” one user wrote, while another said, “Genuinely how does this work, like, how would a Smoliv have the move set and not get immediately one hit KO’ed?”
While finishing the Paldea region with only a Smoliv is an accomplishment, it bears mentioning that Geeta is one of the weakest Champions in the series, to the point where fans have tried reworking her team to make it more imposing.
There’s also more to do in the Paldea region, as Geeta isn’t the end boss. The player still needs to complete Area Zero before they truly finish Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, not to mention the DLC content, as the Blueberry Academy Elite Four would be far more challenging than Geeta.
Completing a single Pokemon challenge run is extremely difficult, even with a level 100 Pokemon, with a lot of frustrating grind involved to make a ‘Mon strong enough to take on the world. This run proves that even a Smoliv has what it takes to become the best, like no one ever was, in the Paldea region.
