Pokemon TCG player bags “awesome” Charizard Demigod Pack against low odds
The Pokemon CompanyThough the odds were stacked against them, a Pokemon TCG player pulled a Charizard Demigod Pack from a Zapdos EX Box.
Pokemon booster packs known as God Packs feature nothing but high-rarity, Full Art cards. To the chagrin of the community, though, these types of rare card packs cannot be purchased in an English set.
There does exist somewhat of a catch, though. The launch of Pokemon 151 introduced so-called Demigod Packs, a single English set boasting three evolutions of the three Gen I starter Pokemon.
There’s much debate online about the rarity of such finds. Some think TCG collectors have 1 in 250 chances to pull a God or Demigod Pack. Meanwhile, other estimations say the Demigod Pack odds likely float around 1 in 1,300. Whatever the case, someone on Reddit recently proved that luck is on their side.
Pokemon TCG collector strikes gold with Demigod Pack pull
In a post on the PokemonTCG subreddit, a user named Osjey shared photos of their incredibly rare Charizard pull. The Redditor managed to bag a Charizard Demigod Pack from a Zapdos EX Box, according to their post.
Responding to other fans, Osjey noted that purchasing Pokemon 151 boxes has treated them well of late. “I’ve been super lucky with 151. I once got a Charizard SIR and Venusaur SIR in one Alakazam Box… I think I’ll stick to boxes for the rest of my life instead of random packs,” they added in part.
In terms of Demigod Pack finds, other Pokemon TCG collectors say the Zapdos EX Box has been a winner. Wrote one such Redditor, “That zapdos box seems to be the goat, the one I got, Had venasaur sir, Ivysaur sir & Charizard ex (183/165).”
However, several other people chimed in to say they’ve experienced no such luck. “I’ve had 3 zapdos boxes and never even packed a single ex,” one comment reads.
Elsewhere in the thread, another Pokemon fan claimed they’ve probably opened hundreds of packs and have yet to see a single God pack among them. As mentioned above, it all seems to come down to a matter of sheer luck.
