Pokemon TCG player finds a “super rare” card with a unique error
The Pokemon CompanyWhile many Pokemon TCG fans hope to get their cards in perfect order, one player has pulled a uniquely different card with a strange mistake, and other fans are extremely jealous.
In the Pokemon TCG community, there are so many reasons a card can be considered rare. While Shiny cards are one thing, there are also Full Art Illustrated cards, and even beyond that some extra-special gold cards that pull some serious bucks online.
However, one of the most unpredictable elements are error cards, where the printing process has created a unique blemish. Or, another outside factor has helped to make a Pokemon card simply one-of-a-kind.
It’s definitely not something you can plan for, and many players may not even pick up on some of the unique differences other players would pay top dollar to acquire. But for one Pokemon TCG player, a card they shared online is generating attention, and they could be in for a small windfall.
Pokemon TCG player shares rare Rowlet error card
In a Reddit post shared by Valuable-Elevator183, the player displays a card, alongside the comment, “I have this rowlet promo that the holo foil was put on the back of the card, is this a rare type of error? And can you please give advice with what this error is called and what I should do with the card.”
The pictures show a fairly unassuming Rowlet card, but just as the post explains, it seems the holographic foil meant for the front of the card has instead been printed on the back, covering the Pokemon TCG logo instead.
Fans are very quick to let the original poster know they could have something rare on their hands, with one comment saying, “This actually could be a very rare error.”
Another comment backs this up, adding, “Yeah these are super tough to find! It’s called a foil back error.” While another comment says, “legit! totally look into getting this graded.”
Meanwhile, one user adds context to the situation, with an in-depth comment. They say, “Awesome find. Foil back errors are one of the rarest error types and can be worth a decent amount. It has presumably occurred to a sheet of these Rowlet and a sheet of reverse cards from Obsidian Flames I believe.”
It’s clear that this type of rare error is likely worth some money, so no matter what this lucky Pokemon TCG fan decides to do with the card in the end, hopefully, their first act is to put it into a proper sleeve or a Pokemon TCG binder.
