Should you choose Diamond or Pearl for Pokemon Go Tour Sinnoh?
NianticPokemon Go’s Sinnoh Tour Special Research quest, Road to Sinnoh, offers players the choice between Diamond and Pearl badges, but which one is best? Here are all of the version differences you need to know about.
Pokemon Go’s Sinnoh Tour 2024 event is nearly here, with the Los Angeles portion of the event set for February 17, 2024. The Global event will begin on Saturday, February 24, 2024, and last until February 25.
Alongside Pokemon debuts, special Raid Bosses, and much more, trainers can also take part in the Road to Sinnoh Special Research quest.
This Special Research quest provides trainers with two powerful Legendary Encounters, but you will have to choose one path or the other. As such, let’s break down whether trainers should choose the Diamond badge path or the Pearl badge path, as well as the differences between both routes.
Differences between Diamond and Pearl in Pokemon Go Tour Sinnoh
As a Special Research quest, the Road to Sinnoh quest features a handful of tasks for trainers to complete. However, while both paths have the same tasks for players to complete, they will give different rewards.
Specifically, the Diamond badge path will give an encounter with Larvitar as well as Tyranitar Mega Energy. Alternatively, the Pearl badge path will offer an encounter with Bagon and give Salemence Mega Energy.
The biggest difference between the two paths is the Legendary Pokemon you will encounter. Trainers who choose the Diamond badge will get an encounter with Origin Forme Dialga with access to the Adventure Effect Roar of Time.
Those who choose the Pearl badge path will get an encounter with Origin Forme Palkia with access to the Spacial Rend Adventure Effect.
Diamond badge bonuses & Legendary encounter
Choosing the Diamond badge path will give players a few different bonuses, but also one big Legendary Encounter in the form of Origin Forme Dialga. According to the official Pokemon Go blog, here are the Diamond Badge bonuses:
- Players can encounter Origin Forme Dialga which knows its signature attack, Roar of Time
- The Roar of Time Adventure Effect will last twice as long
- Trainers will receive Dialga Candy awarded through Pokémon Go Sinnoh Tour’s Global Special Research
Pearl badge bonuses & Legendary encounter
Similar to the Diamond route, choosing the Pearl badge path will give players some bonuses. One of which will be an encounter with Origin Forme Palkia. Here are all the bonuses for the Pearl badge route:
- Players can encounter Origin Forme Palkia which knows its signature attack, Spacial Rend
- The Spacial Rend Adventure Effect will last twice as long
- Trainers will receive Palkia Candy awarded through Pokémon Go Sinnoh Tour’s Global Special Research
Should you choose Diamond or Pearl in Pokemon Go Tour Sinnoh?
Ultimately, the choice of which badge path to choose hinges on your overall playstyle and the Adventure Effect you think compliments it the most.
Players who enjoy using items and reap the rewards they bring should choose the Diamond badge path. The Roar of Time Adventure Effect will it pause the timer on Incense, Daily Adventure Incense, Lucky Eggs, and Star Pieces while active. It lasts for a baseline of six minutes and costs 5,000 Stardust and 5 Dialga Candies to activate.
Trainers who enjoy playing from home or have limited space to travel should choose the Pearl badge path for the Spacial Rend Adventure Effect. When active, this effect distorts space and allows you to encounter wild Pokemon from an increased distance. It lasts for a baseline of 10 minutes and costs 5,000 Stardust and 5 Palkia Candies to activate.
