StarLadder to host European PUBG Mobile STAR CHALLENGE $600k mobile tournament
Chinese company Tencent and PUBG Corp are putting together a new PLAYERUNKNOWN’s Battlegrounds Mobile tournament that will feature squads from six different regions competing – Europe, South America, North America, Korea/Japan, Asia, and China.
Teams will be made up of celebrity and professional players from each of those regions, and each team will need to compete in regional finals, the first being in Kiev on September 29-30.
The top 20 teams that make it through each of the qualifying finals will play against one another in the Grand Finals in Dubai at the end of 2018.
Players will be competing in teams of four, with at least one person per team required to have more than 1,000 subscribers/fans on specific streaming platforms to qualify.
The tournament is part of Tencent’s five-year plan for PUBG esports, which also aims for regional pro leagues and revenue sharing between four of the major regions.
StarLadder, the organizer behind the European finals, is also searching for a commentator to join the current broadcast team.
“PUBG MOBILE STAR CHALLENGE- EUROPE FINAL will be broadcasted on English-language and Russian-language official channels and all invited celebrities will make live streams from the venue. But we have a feeling that it’s maybe not enough for PUBG fans, so we started to gather up community cast team. If you have a wide audience and you want to broadcast PMSC tournament on your native language (except English and Russian) – apply now!“

PUBG Mobile’s History
PUBG Mobile was launched worldwide in March 2018 on iOS and Android, and with an experience very similar PC and Xbox, it has turned out to be a major hit with consumers.
“We are working hard to create an authentic PUBG mobile experience that players new and old will love,” Chen Jerry, said corporate vice president of Tencent and president of Lightspeed & Quantum Studios Group. “A lot went into controls and optimization to give players a smooth and intuitive experience.”
Since launch, PUBG Mobile has received a number of major updates in parallel with other platforms, including new maps, weapons, skins and characters.
