Bachelor breakups: The messiest on & off-screen splits within the franchise
ABCThere have been many breakups in the Bachelor franchise, but some were messier than others.
The Bachelor franchise has had its fair share of dramatic moments over the years involving heartbreak and a lot of tears.
Since the show doesn’t have the greatest track record with lasting relationships, it’s very rare for a couple to stay together after filming.
When The Bachelor lead hands out the final rose in the finale and their relationship status is revealed to the public, fame can affect the couple and cause them to break up.
In honor of Singles Awareness Day, here are the messiest Bachelor franchise splits both on and off the show.
Colton Underwood & Cassie Randolph – The Bachelor Season 23
Colton Underwood was the lead on The Bachelor Season 23 and fell in love with contestant Cassie Randolph.
When she self-eliminated during a trip to Portugal, Colton jumped over a fence because he didn’t want her to leave the show.
Cassie and Colton got back together at the end of the season and dated for less than two years, but they officially split in May 2020.
Arie Luyendyk Jr. & Becca Kufrin – The Bachelor Season 22
Arie Luyendyk Jr. proposed to Becca Kufin and gave her his final rose at the end of The Bachelor Season 22.
Two months later, Arie broke Becca’s heart on camera and told her he wanted to be in a relationship with runner-up Lauren Burnham instead.
Arie is still married to Lauren, and Becca became The Bachelorette the following season. However, she met her current husband Thomas Jacobs on Bachelor In Paradise Season 7.
Hannah Brown & Jed Wyatt – The Bachelorette Season 15
Hannah Brown chose Jed Wyatt to be her future husband on The Bachelorette Season 15, despite viewers knowing he was hiding something while the season was airing.
It was revealed that Jed was still dating a girl named Haley Stevens for four months before he left to be on The Bachelorette, and wanted to use the show to boost their music careers.
Hannah didn’t find out about the news until after the season was over because Jed lied to her, and their emotional breakup was caught on camera.
The Bachelor franchise has showcased messy breakups, but the contestants eventually move on and end up in a better place.
