Below Deck fans accuse producers of hiring “bad crew” for more drama

Below Deck firings have increased over the years, and fans are wondering if producers are hiring inexperienced crew members on purpose.

The Below Deck franchise centers around crew members who closely live and work on a yacht together, and the charter season can get stressful.

Each season, the show has drama between the cast and brings on unqualified yachties who aren’t able to do their jobs correctly.

It’s very rare that an entire Below Deck cast makes it through the whole season because at least one person is always getting fired.

This is a trend in more recent seasons of Below Deck, as the show becomes popular and the drama is more intense, but fans suspect the producers have been intentionally seeking out “bad” crew members to create viral moments.

Below Deck fans blame producers for hiring bad crew on “purpose”

On Below Deck Season 11 episode 2, the deck team had trouble docking the boat because Bosun Jared Woodin didn’t give Captain Kerry Titheradge measurements for the stern distance.

Below Deck fans were bothered by the crew after watching them dock the boat, and one fan on X wrote, “This entire crew seems like a bunch of f*ck ups.”

Another fan blamed producers for the incident and replied, “I can’t tell if the producers lately are giving us bad crew on purpose because it makes the show ‘more dramatic’ or it just keeps happening.”

The original poster agreed and said, “Yeah, I’m wondering if it’s a setup, and then they’ll turn around and be better, but right now, it is not looking good for any of them!”

Although not all Below Deck crew members are experienced when they first come on the boat, fans noticed that every charter season on the show seems to start the same way.

In previous seasons, the crew has a difficult time settling into their positions and are reprimanded by the captain or department head when they do something wrong.

Later in the season, they either correct their mistake or end up getting fired after multiple chances to improve.

Captain Kerry revealed that Below Deck Season 11 has a record number of firings, and fans are curious to know who gets sent home.
