Chef Jack Luby from Below Deck Mediterranean is doing an okay job in Season 8. The main problem? No one knows what he’s saying.

Chef Jack Luby is making his reality TV debut as one of the main crew members for Season 8 of Below Deck Mediterranean. And honestly, he isn’t doing so well so far.

First and foremost, there was the egg debacle that viewers still have not forgiven him for. In Episode 2 of the season, he was heavily criticized for not properly cooking eggs for the charter guests.

He responded to the fiasco by stating that breakfast is ‘overrated’, which is not something you want to hear from the chef in charge of cooking food for guests in the morning.

Not only do viewers not understand how he could possibly mess up eggs, but some don’t even understand what he’s saying.

Do fans understand Below Deck Med’s Jack Luby?

On October 4, Below Deck Med fans discussed Jack on Reddit. The chef is from Liverpool, England, and has definitely sustained the region’s accent. For some viewers, it’s too much to handle.

One fan wrote, “I’m usually really good about being able to process accents but his gets me sometimes lol. I turn on the CC for pretty much every show anyway. I end up reading more than watching.”

Another fan wrote, “I don’t understand Jack 75% of the time. I’d lower that to 50% after I take a few seconds to figure out what he said, but then I miss part of the next thing he said.”

Jack hasn’t responded to the public comments as of yet. But, needless to say, viewers are very appreciative of subtitles.
